The role in question is a front desk associate or front office representative stationed at the hotel's front office. Cash handling is a significant responsibility, which includes processing payments via cash, checks, or credit cards and providing correct change. Knowledge of hotel rates, discounts, cancellation policies, relocation procedures, and reservation protocols is fundamental to the role.
Physical and communicative abilities are also important, as the role involves prolonged periods of sitting, frequent use of keyboarding and office equipment, and effective verbal and written communication. The candidate must be able to lift and move light items and occasionally stand and walk throughout the workday. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in hospitality or customer service preferred
- Ability to work varying schedules including nights weekends and holidays
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods 6-8 hours a day
- Ability to stand walk bend reach or carry items occasionally
- Ability to lift and move 10 to 25 pounds
- Visual ability to read computer screen and printed materials
- Ability to use phone and headset
- Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities

Job Duties
- Greet and communicate cordially with guests promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel
- Assist in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary
- Promptly accurately and efficiently know how and where to post all charges
- Have complete working knowledge of front office computer or manual system including all daily transactions and those which are not performed often
- Accurately manage cash handling including receiving cash checks and credit card information from guests for payment of hotel charges and making change correctly
- Review any reservations with special requests and work to block rooms accordingly
- Have knowledge of hotel rates discounts and how to handle each
- Have working knowledge of reservations and procedures including how to take same day reservations should be able to take reservations in approximately 2 minutes know and follow cancellation procedures and relocation procedures when necessary
