The role of Assistant Fresh Foods Manager at Harris Teeter is a critical position within the Fresh Foods Department, where up to 80 associates may be supervised and guided. This role involves assisting the Department Manager with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department to ensure that all quality and safety standards are met. The Assistant Manager carries out supervisory responsibilities in alignment with Harris Teeter's policies and standards. This includes hands-on responsibilities such as performing baking, frying, cake decorating, and fresh food preparation tasks when necessary. This role is hourly and non-exempt, with a pay range typically between $19.00 and $29.75 per hour, depending on the candidate’s previous experience and skills. The position is physically demanding, requiring regular lifting, standing, and moving in a fast-paced environment, and it exposes the associate to common supermarket conditions such as humidity and mechanical equipment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three years related experience and/or training
- commitment to unparalleled customer service
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training
- ability to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
- ability to stand, walk, reach, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
- ability to work in wet and/or humid conditions
- availability to work retail store hours
