The role of Assistant Fresh Foods Manager at Harris Teeter is a critical position within the Fresh Foods Department, where up to 80 associates may be supervised and guided. This role involves assisting the Department Manager with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department to ensure that all quality and safety standards are met. The Assistant Manager carries out supervisory responsibilities in alignment with Harris Teeter's policies and standards. This includes hands-on responsibilities such as performing baking, frying, cake decorating, and fresh food preparation tasks when necessary. This cross-functional approach ensures that the team stays flexible and can maintain high performance even during peak periods.

Additionally, this position involves recruiting, interviewing, training, and coaching associates to create a motivated workforce passionate about exceptional customer service. The Assistant Manager plans, assigns, and directs work duties to meet store goals efficiently and effectively. They also assist in performance appraisals, reward outstanding associates, and handle disciplinary actions when required.
