This role of Fresh Foods Department Supervisor at Harris Teeter is a dynamic position responsible for assisting the Department Manager with managing and supervising up to 80 associates. This position entails overseeing the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Fresh Foods Department. As the supervisor, you will be actively involved in carrying out supervisory responsibilities consistent with company policies and standards. This includes performing duties in various capacities such as baker/fryer, cake decorator, Fresh Foods clerks, and chef where necessary. The role also requires extensive engagement in interviewing, training, planning, assigning tasks, and directing the work of associates. You will help appraise performance, reward positive contributions, address complaints, and resolve problems effectively.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • one to three years related experience and/or training
  • ability to read and comprehend simple English instructions and correspondence
  • ability to write simple English correspondence
  • strong communication skills for one-on-one and small group presentations
  • knowledge of HT Internet software, email, inventory software, spreadsheet, and word processing programs
  • ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers including money and measurements
  • ability to apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions
  • complete company training including orientation, customer service, safety, food safety, and department manager training
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • willingness to work in wet, humid, and mechanical environments
