The Cook position at Alto Boynton Ridge is a full-time, first-shift role paying $16 per hour, centered around preparing and presenting high-quality meals for the community's residents and guests. The Cook’s primary responsibility is to craft delicious, visually appealing food that enhances the dining experience, making each meal an exceptional occasion. This role involves supervising the kitchen operations under the guidance of the Dining Services Director and Chef/Lead Cook, ensuring all meals meet the highest standards, local customs, and taste preferences while adhering strictly to standardized recipes and budget constraints. The Cook is also responsible for maintaining kitchen hygiene, properly washing dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils, and ensuring kitchen equipment is well-maintained and safe to use.

A key aspect of this role is the prevention of foodborne illnesses and communicable diseases through careful monitoring of water temperatures and chemical compounds used in the kitchen. The Cook must interact with residents and colleagues in a friendly, service-oriented manner, embodying the community’s values of respect and hospitality. The position demands adaptability, attention to detail, strong teamwork, and time management skills, along with compliance with all safety regulations. A current manager's level food handler permit is required, alongside a positive criminal background screening and adherence to a drug-free workplace policy. Preferred qualifications include at least one year of related cooking experience and some familiarity with software and computer skills. Job Duties

  • Prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented making each meal service an exceptional occasion
  • Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director and Chef/Lead Cook
  • Prepare high quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes
  • Consistently adhere to the standard recipes, the budgeted costs and Company policies
  • Supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils
  • Properly maintain all kitchen equipment
  • Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds as appropriate to ensure the prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease
  • Approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
