Job Description

RiverWoods in Durham is part of the Northern New England's largest family of Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs). Our organization has been dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents since 1994, providing a community where older adults can live with dignity, purpose, and peace of mind. We operate under a clear philosophy that aging should be a rewarding chapter filled with opportunities for growth and meaningful connections. At RiverWoods, we strive every day to make things better for people, whether they are residents, team members, or part of our extended community. As a leader in senior living, we provide a supportive, attractive, and vibrant environment where team members can build long-term, fulfilling careers.

We are currently seeking an experienced Full-Time Line Cook, referred to internally as a Level 2 Cook, to join our dining team. This role offers the benefits of traditional full-time work without the late-night shifts common in many restaurants. Typical shifts run from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with flexible scheduling options to accommodate different lifestyles. While weekend work is required, schedules may range from Saturday-Wednesday, Tuesday-Saturday, or Sunday-Thursday, offering stability and predictability compared to conventional culinary roles.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in preparing a variety of culinary dishes using whole food items, adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines. They should be adaptable to working across different kitchen stations and committed to contributing positively to the resident dining experience by ensuring consistent, high-quality meals. Responsibilities include preparing hot and cold menu items according to standardized recipes and production sheets, maintaining sanitation standards, collaborating with the Sous Chef and Director of Culinary Operations to ensure proper production amounts and timing for meal services and special events, attending training sessions, and keeping the kitchen environment safe and clean.

This position offers competitive pay, with the final rate determined by the candidate's experience. Full medical and dental insurance coverage is available starting within the first 30 days of employment. We also offer a 403(b) retirement plan with company match, earned time off beginning at 15 days per year, six paid holidays plus four personal days, and wellness programs. One unique benefit is our partnership with DailyPay, which allows employees to get paid daily, providing financial flexibility. Additional perks include on-site fitness opportunities, an employee meal program, and education assistance. There is also a full sign-on bonus available subject to eligibility requirements.

If you are passionate about culinary arts and want to contribute to a mission-driven organization that values making a difference every day, RiverWoods offers a prime opportunity to grow professionally in a supportive community setting. We welcome those who are eager to be part of a team that enhances the quality of life for our residents through exceptional food service and hospitality.
