The role of Cook at Allegro Living, specifically at the Spring Arbor of Greensboro location, is a critical position focused on preparing food of the highest quality and taste for residents and guests. This role involves delivering meals that are not only delicious but also visually appealing, contributing significantly to the dining experience within the community. Working full-time with shifts from Monday to Friday and every other weekend, the cook position offers hourly pay ranging between $15.29 and $18.05, dependent on experience. The cook is responsible for supervising kitchen activities under the guidance of the Dining Services Director and Lead Cook, ensuring that all culinary operations comply with company policies, budget constraints, and health standards.
The position requires someone who can prepare colorful and tastefully presented meals that consistently meet or exceed the expectations of the community. The cook must maintain kitchen equipment properly, oversee sanitation practices to prevent foodborne illnesses, and provide friendly service toward residents and staff. Additionally, the role involves assisting or supervising dishwashing and utensil cleaning operations to maintain a hygienic environment. The cook should possess flexibility, attention to detail, strong teamwork skills, and effective time management capabilities. Having the required manager's food handler permit and passing a criminal background screening are mandatory. Preferred qualifications include at least one year of related cooking experience and basic software skills. Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented making each meal service an exceptional occasion
- Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director and Chef/Lead Cook
- Prepare high quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes
- Consistently adhere to the standard recipes, the budgeted costs and company policies
- Supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils
- Properly maintain all kitchen equipment
- Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds as appropriate to ensure the prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease
- Approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Other job duties as assigned
