Job Description

Lowe's Companies, Inc. is a Fortune 100 home improvement company headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina. It operates over 1,700 home improvement stores, 530 branches, and 130 distribution centers throughout the United States, serving approximately 16 million customer transactions each week. With fiscal year 2025 sales exceeding $86 billion and employing around 300,000 associates, Lowe's is a recognized leader in the home improvement industry. The company is committed to supporting the communities it serves by focusing on creating safe and affordable housing, enhancing community spaces, developing the next generation of skilled trade experts, and providing disaster relief. Lowe's promotes an inclusive workforce and is an equal opportunity employer embracing diversity in all forms, including race, gender, veteran status, and more.

The role of a Lowe's cashier is essential to delivering a positive and efficient customer experience. As a cashier, you will be the last interaction many customers have with the store, which places you in a vital position to ensure every customer leaves satisfied. Your responsibilities go beyond just scanning items; you help customers through the payment and exchange processes, answer questions, and maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times. You will often work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where your ability to provide quick and accurate service is critical.

Most of your time will be spent at the checkout register, efficiently scanning and bagging items, managing payments, and operating the cash register. However, the role also involves assisting customers in the self-checkout area, maintaining a clean and safe workstation, and occasionally supporting other departments by stocking shelves or moving carts. This position is well-suited for individuals who enjoy working with people, thrive in dynamic environments, and want to develop valuable trade skills through Lowe's Track to the Trades program.

Lowe's supports its associates with competitive pay, flexible schedules, and an extensive benefits package, designed to encourage personal and professional growth. Associates have access to multiple top-tier health insurance options, a tuition assistance program to further education, a company-matching 401(k) plan along with an optional Employee Stock Purchase Program, and a 10% discount on purchases. The company values bilingual, military, and veteran talent, encouraging these individuals to join their diverse team.

Working conditions vary by location and may include exposure to different weather conditions and environments. The job requires physical capability to stand or sit for prolonged periods and to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds unassisted or more with accommodations. Safety guidelines are strictly followed, including limits on lifting heavy objects and the use of powered equipment where appropriate. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, training sessions, or support nearby stores, but regular travel is not expected.

Overall, a cashier at Lowe's plays a critical role in the customer service experience and helps the store maintain its reputation as a trusted destination for home improvement needs. This position offers growth opportunities and benefits that support both personal wellness and career advancement, making it a rewarding position for candidates committed to excellence in retail and customer service.
