Job Description

SCHEELS is a prominent leader in the sporting goods industry in the United States, known for its extensive selection of world-class sports brands, exceptional customer service, and unique in-store attractions. With a commitment to creating the best shopping experience for its customers, SCHEELS offers a dynamic environment where associates can grow their expertise and passion for sports, fitness, fashion, and the outdoors. The company combines a rich heritage of quality products with an innovative approach to customer engagement, making it a preferred destination for sports enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers alike.

Joining SCHEELS means becoming part of a team dedicated to excellence, both in product knowledge and customer interaction. The company invests heavily in business and product training to empower its associates, ensuring they are equipped with the skills to provide personalized service that exceeds customer expectations. Mentorship and continuous professional development are pillars of the culture at SCHEELS, allowing employees to cultivate their careers in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.

The role at SCHEELS is designed for individuals who are passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and who thrive in a fast-paced retail setting. Associates greet every customer with warmth, engage meaningfully to understand their needs, and provide expert guidance on a wide range of sporting goods and apparel. They are also responsible for maintaining an organized and clean personal workspace, adhering to Scheels' professional dress and grooming standards, and contributing positively to the store’s team atmosphere.

This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to handle basic financial transactions accurately. Associates are expected to promote the Scheels Visa Rewards card confidently, clearly explaining its benefits to customers. The role also involves balancing the cash drawer at the end of each day, supporting operational efficiency and trustworthiness within the store.

Scheduling for this role includes varied hours that may involve evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a commitment to working an average of 40 hours per week and being available for at least two weekends a month. This flexibility helps ensure that the store is fully staffed during peak times, delivering consistent service excellence.

SCHEELS values a team-oriented approach where each member is encouraged to support co-workers and contribute to a positive working environment. Respect, appreciation, punctuality, eagerness to learn, adaptability, and a genuine desire to help others are core components of the company culture. The ideal candidate is teachable, embraces feedback, and is motivated by continuous improvement and personal growth within the company.

Physical demands of the job include the ability to sit, stand, bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift (up to 50 pounds occasionally), talk, and hear, with or without reasonable accommodations. SCHEELS prioritizes the health and safety of its associates by enforcing strict safety procedures to minimize the risk of injury.

Benefits offered by SCHEELS include competitive options to support associates' well-being and work-life balance. The company is an equal employment opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming applicants regardless of race, religion, gender identity, veteran status, disability, or any other protected characteristic. This inclusive policy ensures every associate is respected and provided reasonable accommodations as needed, fostering a diverse and supportive workplace environment.
