The role of a Food Service Associate at SCHEELS, primarily based in Ginna's Café, is crucial in maintaining the holistic experience SCHEELS offers its customers. This position involves preparing a variety of food products, including fudge and baked goods, as well as operating various stations such as deli line, barista, grill, and ice cream. Associates in this role adhere strictly to all state and local food safety guidelines and ensure that all products are received and stored according to Standard Operating Guidelines. The position demands a high level of cleanliness and organization in workspaces, alongside efficient cash control and till management as per SCHEELS policies.

Additionally, the Food Service Associate supports daily operational tasks such as side work, cleaning schedules, and both opening and closing procedures. This role requires the ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed recipes and procedures, communicate effectively with customers and team members, and solve basic operational problems using sound judgment. SCHEELS expects its Food Service Associates to embody professionalism and contribute positively to the team atmosphere, always treating others with respect and consideration.

The schedule for this role typically includes Monday through Friday shifts between 7am and 5pm, with at least one shift weekly from 12pm to 9pm. Hours may vary, including weekends and holidays, to meet store needs. Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Up to one month related experience or training preferred
  • Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and operate kitchen equipment
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace

Job Duties

  • Prepare all fudge products and sell to customers
  • Perform all Ginna's restaurant functions including deli line, barista, grill, ice cream, baked goods, fudge and other duties as assigned
  • Follow all food safety guidelines by State and Local Ordinances
  • Ensure all products are received and stored according to Standard Operating Guidelines
  • Assist in training new associates using kitchen tools, mentor checklists and Standard Operating Guidelines
  • Ensure cash control and till management is followed according to Scheels Cashier Guidelines
  • Manage and support side work, daily and detail cleaning schedules, opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain working knowledge of Café recipes and prepared foods
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work space and surrounding areas
  • Be professional in appearance and attitude, contribute to a positive team atmosphere and treat others with respect
  • Perform basic math operations related to money and measurements
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees
  • Place orders for Ginna's Cafe vendors to maintain proper stock
  • Work varied hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Prepare many types of food, drinks, and ingredients
