Job Description

The Glen Eyrie Conference Center, managed by The Navigators, is a renowned venue that hosts numerous events focusing on spiritual enrichment and fellowship. It is within this vibrant and purpose-driven setting that the Banquet Supervisor position is based.

The Banquet Supervisor at The Glen Eyrie Conference Center plays a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional banquet service and guest experience consistent with the organization’s ministry mission and values. This is a key front-of-house leadership role responsible for overseeing all banquet functions, coordinating staff, and maintaining service standards that uphold the conference center's reputation for excellence. The supervisor ensures that every aspect of banquet service aligns with The Navigators’ calling to provide a hospitable and welcoming environment that reflects Christian principles.

This role requires a hands-on approach to managing banquet events, including setting up tables, managing staff conduct, ensuring adherence to client specifications, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. It demands an individual who can foster teamwork, handle guest relations professionally, and manage operational details adeptly. The position offers hourly pay ranging from $14.50 to $16.00 and involves participating actively in cultural and spiritual development initiatives, reflecting the organization's commitment to integrating faith and work.

The Banquet Supervisor engages deeply with the overall event coordination, ensuring all functional details like menu signage, special dietary needs, and equipment setup are meticulously addressed. They serve as the main liaison between banquet staff and management, resolving guest issues within their authority and escalating others appropriately. The role also involves administrative components such as participating in inventory, training new employees, submitting accurate time records via Workday, and contributing to continuous improvement through planned development activities.

Job Duties

  • Maintain positive and professional attitude
  • Gather menu information for each function served, in order to appropriately provide signage and explanation to guests
  • Be aware of the details on the Banquet Event order, including special diets
  • Set up for events by placing tablecloths, place settings, and other table items along with setting up buffet when requested
  • Carry plates of food on trays and serving guests
  • Complete the inspection of meeting rooms prior to guest arrival ensuring that client specifications have been met
  • Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority
  • otherwise refer the matter to upper management
  • Notify supervisor and/or security of all unusual events, circumstances, or missing items
  • Maintain proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses
  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the Conference Center
  • Communicate any areas of need, problems, and concerns from guest to Banquet Supervisor
  • Clean up venue after event ends and assist with closeout tasks
  • Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor
  • Greet all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
  • Provide quick service for last minute changes
  • May take lead position for a specific function
  • May be responsible for obtaining the BEO for functions
  • May assist with quarterly inventory
  • May assist with training of new staff
  • Participate in development events such as Navigator on-site events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate
  • Read spiritually and culturally developmental books and literature
  • Participate in the annual, organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR) process
  • Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Banquet Supervisor and Food & Beverage Director
