With a strong presence in multiple states, Harris Teeter provides a wide range of grocery items, including fresh foods, bakery products, and household essentials. The company prides itself on maintaining high standards for freshness, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. As a full-time leading retailer, Harris Teeter invests in employee development by offering comprehensive training programs in areas like food safety, customer service, and workplace safety, ensuring associates can perform their roles effectively and uphold the company's reputation.
The position in focus is a full-time role responsible for baking products according to established standards while managing the processing, packaging, and stocking of fresh foods products to maintain the quality and freshness that Harris Teeter customers expect. This role also involves maintaining clean work areas to comply with safety and sanitation guidelines, providing courteous and helpful customer service, unloading stock deliveries, and handling salvage items by reloading them appropriately. Associates employed in this position are expected to follow detailed but straightforward instructions, work collaboratively with their team, and contribute to a positive shopping experience by supporting the team’s sales goals and customer satisfaction initiatives.
Harris Teeter requires that associates in this role be at least 18 years old and possess essential personal skills such as exceptional interpersonal communication capabilities. Employees must be able to participate in and complete mandatory training programs successfully, demonstrating a willingness to learn and improve continuously. The role requires a basic understanding of English for reading and writing simple instructions, memos, and correspondence, and the ability to present information effectively to customers and colleagues.
Educationally, the role requires a high school diploma or a general education degree (GED), complemented by one to three months of related experience or equivalent training. This combination helps ensure that associates can perform duties confidently, including handling American money and weight measurements, applying common sense to routine problems, and maintaining product knowledge and food safety best practices.
Physically, the job involves regular standing, walking, reaching, and handling objects up to 30 pounds, sometimes up to 50 pounds. Associates may also need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally. The work environment involves exposure to various temperatures, moving machinery, airborne particles, and chemicals, with noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. However, Harris Teeter is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions successfully.
Overall, this baking and fresh foods associate position at Harris Teeter is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking full-time employment in a dynamic retail environment.
