The role of the Fresh Foods Associate is crucial within the company’s fresh foods department. This position involves several key responsibilities, including baking products according to established standards, processing, packaging, and stocking fresh foods products in line with company guidelines. Physical demands for this role include regular standing, walking, handling or feeling with hands, reaching with arms, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Occasionally, the associate may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Lifting and moving up to 30 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, are also required. Vision abilities such as close vision, color, and depth perception are important to perform tasks accurately.
The work environment may expose the associate to different temperature conditions, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and potentially toxic or caustic chemicals, requiring vigilance and adherence to safety protocols. The noise levels can vary from moderate to loud. Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training
- exceptional interpersonal skills
- completion of company training including new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and product knowledge
- ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, hear, taste, and smell regularly
- occasional ability to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch
- ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- specific vision abilities including close vision, color, and depth perception
- ability to work in moderate to extreme temperature environments
- ability to work around moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
- ability to tolerate moderate to loud noise levels
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three months related experience and/or training
- ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English
- ability to write simple correspondence in English
- ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and perform operations using American money and weight measurement
- ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
