The role of Assistant Store Manager at ALDI is a full-time position offering approximately 38 hours per week, starting at a competitive wage of $25.50 per hour, with an increase to $26.50 per hour in the second year. This role is essential to the day-to-day operations of the store, supporting the direct leader in supervising store activities and ensuring successful overall performance. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will help develop and implement operational action plans aimed at improving results, managing team schedules, and providing leadership and training to staff to foster their growth and efficiency. Your responsibility also includes maintaining high store standards, ensuring product quality and presentation, managing inventory accurately, and promoting excellent customer service within the team.

Physical demands include stocking merchandise, lifting products up to 45 pounds, and operating various store equipment safely.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive retail experience
  • Combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
  • Prior management experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
  • Identify training and development opportunities for team members
  • Understand and model company strategy and core values to promote teamwork
  • Monitor the competitive environment and inform leadership of necessary adjustments
  • Provide product feedback and recommendations to the direct leader
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring of store personnel
  • Communicate weekly information, milestones, and concerns to the team
  • Ensure adherence to inventory procedures, product handling, and cash control policies
  • Resolve operational customer concerns in the absence of the direct leader
  • Identify and rectify hazards and maintain store equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness standards and proper store signage
  • Assist with maintaining proper stock levels through ordering
  • Merchandise products neatly to maximize sales
  • Ensure product quality, freshness, and accurate signage
  • Help achieve payroll and budget goals, conduct inventory counts, and train new employees
  • Supervise daily operations and escalate issues as needed
  • Ensure timely completion of responsibilities by direct reports
  • Comply with company policies and maintain confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned
