As an Assistant Store Manager at ALDI, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day management of one of our retail locations. This full-time position involves supervising daily store activities, ensuring the store meets performance goals, and managing staff schedules effectively. The typical workweek is approximately 38 hours, starting with a competitive wage of $25.50 per hour, increasing to $26.50 in the second year. This role is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and are passionate about leading teams towards success.
In this leadership role, you will assist the Store Manager in developing and implementing actionable plans aimed at improving operational results. You will be responsible for setting clear job expectations for the team, identifying training opportunities to foster employee growth, and maintaining high standards throughout the store including cleanliness, merchandising, and product quality. Your ability to communicate company values and strategies ensures that the team works cohesively to offer the best shopping experience possible. Monitoring the competitive retail landscape and providing feedback on product selection are also key aspects of this position.
The Assistant Store Manager will oversee crucial operational procedures such as inventory control, cash management, customer complaint resolution, and maintaining workplace safety and equipment functionality. Collaboration with other leaders and supporting staff during staff recruitment and training enriches the team’s capabilities and aligns individual goals with the company’s vision. Additionally, the role demands maintaining compliance with company policies, ensuring authenticity and confidentiality in handling documents and data, and fostering a positive, efficient work atmosphere.
This role requires a candidate who is physically capable of handling various tasks such as lifting merchandise up to 45 pounds, stocking shelves at various heights, and performing a variety of physical activities including standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout their shifts. Flexibility and commitment to the company's standards are critical for success.
ALDI values dedication to excellent customer service and expects the Assistant Store Manager to lead by example, promoting promptness, courtesy, and professionalism among team members. Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and leadership experience are essential, as is a solid understanding of retail management principles including budgeting and personnel cost control.
Candidates applying for this position should be at least 18 years old and possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of three years of progressive retail experience. Prior management experience is preferred but not mandatory. ALDI offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, retirement plans with company matching, paid holidays, vacation time, parental and caregiver leave, and various other employee assistance programs, making this an attractive opportunity for growth within a leading retail brand committed to equal employment opportunity and diversity.
