We are currently seeking a dedicated Assistant Store Manager to join our team on a full-time basis, averaging 38 hours per week, with a starting wage of $25.50 per hour, increasing to $26.50 in the second year. In this critical role, you will support the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for managing team schedules, developing action plans to drive business results, identifying training opportunities, and fostering a positive and productive work environment. This position requires a hands-on leader who can multitask efficiently, maintain store standards, and uphold company policies.

The Assistant Store Manager plays a pivotal role in promoting ALDI's core values and strategic objectives by mentoring staff, managing inventory, ensuring compliance with safety and operational guidelines, and handling customer concerns in the Store Manager’s absence. This role demands excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to motivate and develop a retail team. You will contribute to the store’s success by merchandising products effectively, maintaining cleanliness, and optimizing stock levels. The position also requires physical activity such as lifting products up to 45 pounds and operating store equipment safely.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • minimum of 3 years progressive retail experience
  • prior management experience preferred
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • must be 18 years or older

Job Duties

  • Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
  • establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
  • identify training and development opportunities for team members
  • understand and communicate the company strategy and core values
  • monitor the competitive community environment and inform leadership of necessary adjustments
  • provide product feedback and recommendations
  • participate in interviewing store personnel
  • communicate weekly information and address team milestones and concerns
  • ensure adherence to inventory and cash control policies
  • resolve operational customer concerns in the leader’s absence
  • identify and rectify hazards and maintain store equipment
  • maintain store cleanliness and signage
  • assist in maintaining proper stock levels and merchandising products
  • ensure quality and freshness of products and accuracy of signage
  • assist with store payroll, loss budget, inventory counts, and training new employees
  • supervise day-to-day operations and escalate issues when needed
  • ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities for excellent customer service
  • comply with company policies and confidentiality requirements
  • perform other assigned duties
