Job Description

Panda Restaurant Group is a renowned family-owned and operated company that has been serving exceptional Asian dining experiences since its founding in 1983. Based in Glendale, California, Panda has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in America, with nearly 2,800 locations globally. The company is proud of its culture dedicated to core values including Proactive, Respect/Win-Win, Growth, Great Operations, and Giving. Panda Restaurant Group oversees a variety of dining concepts, such as the original Panda Inn fine dining restaurants, Panda Express fast casual Asian cuisine, and Hibachi San, a Japanese grill concept. As a leader in the Asian restaurant industry, Panda is committed to investing in its people to foster growth and development, ensuring that every team member is inspired to better their lives while delivering outstanding service to guests.

The Server role at Panda Restaurant Group is critical in providing a superior dining experience through fast, friendly, and knowledgeable service. Serving guests efficiently with a comprehensive understanding of the food and beverage menus, a Server is expected to maintain clean and orderly service stations throughout their shifts. This position demands a welcoming presence and the ability to impress guests with exceptional service skills. Servers are responsible for greeting guests promptly and professionally, explaining menu offerings including seasonal specials, making recommendations, and suggestively selling additional items such as drinks, appetizers, and desserts. Building rapport with guests by remembering regulars' names and preferences is highly encouraged, creating a personalized dining experience.

Coordination with kitchen staff is essential to accommodate special ingredient or preparation needs. Servers ensure timely delivery of orders, proper table settings, and adherence to service standards such as wine opening and the correct removal of plates. Engaging guests thoughtfully without interrupting their conversations and anticipating their needs before being asked are vital components of the role. The position also involves quality checks to confirm guest satisfaction and addressing any concerns promptly, involving management when necessary. Additionally, Servers assist bussers and colleagues during busy periods and maintain a tidy dining area, including spill clean-ups and safety hazard awareness.

This role offers flexible scheduling, competitive pay between $16.5 and $19.5 per hour depending on location and experience, and comprehensive benefits to full-time associates. Panda Restaurant Group provides medical, vision, dental, and voluntary short-term disability insurance, cancer income protection, health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, and a 401K plan with company match. Employees enjoy paid meals during shifts, vacation, sick leave, bereavement leave, associate discounts on many brands, referral bonuses, and hands-on paid training. The company fosters ongoing career progression and leadership development, offering opportunities for growth into management positions. Panda is an equal opportunity employer that complies with all federal, state, and local laws regarding workplace accommodations under the ADA. The company is dedicated to maintaining an inclusive environment free from discrimination based on any legally protected characteristic.

In summary, joining Panda Restaurant Group as a Server means becoming part of a compassionate and dynamic organization that values its people and their development. If you are passionate about delivering exceptional dining experiences in a supportive, family-oriented culture with pathways for advancement, this opportunity at Panda offers an ideal platform to thrive and grow your career in the hospitality industry.
