Job Description
The hiring organization is a reputable school district's Child Nutrition Department dedicated to providing nutritious, high-quality meals to students across multiple campuses. This department plays a crucial role in supporting student health and academic performance by ensuring access to balanced meals that meet local, state, and federal nutrition guidelines. The organization emphasizes strict adherence to safety, sanitation, and quality standards in all aspects of food production and distribution. The work environment is collaborative, involving coordination with various district staff and compliance with all applicable regulations including USDA and Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) policies.
The Food Service Driver position is a vital role within this department, responsible for the distribution and service of meals prepared at the central kitchen to assigned campuses. This position requires an individual who is detail-oriented, able to work under limited supervision, and committed to maintaining high standards in food safety and customer service. Working under the supervision of an assigned manager, the Food Service Driver ensures that all meals are prepared, served, and transported following strict guidelines designed to protect student health and meet program requirements.
The role involves overseeing meal preparation and distribution, maintaining accurate food production records, and ensuring compliance with standardized recipes and HACCP food safety protocols. The Food Service Driver also manages inventory levels to balance supply availability with minimal waste. Key responsibilities include maintaining a clean and organized workspace, setting up service lines, accurately portioning and serving meals, and providing positive and professional interactions with students and school staff.
This is a full-time, hourly position starting at $14 per hour, with compensation commensurate with experience. The job involves traveling between multiple campuses as required, and includes key tasks such as assisting with cleaning and sanitation, using thermometers to monitor food temperatures, and participating in ongoing training and development activities. The Food Service Driver must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently under pressure, exercise independent judgment for problem-solving, and contribute to a supportive dining environment for children.
Candidates interested in the Food Service Driver role should have relevant food production experience with an understanding of school or institutional food service operations preferred. The role offers an opportunity to be part of an essential team that supports student wellness through quality nutrition services, providing meaningful work in a structured yet dynamic environment. This position requires valid Texas driver’s license and food safety certification, reflecting the responsibilities related to meal transport and food safety oversight. Overall, this role is well-suited for someone passionate about food service, safety standards, and delivering excellent customer service in an educational atmosphere.
