The role available at JW Marriott Des Moines, located at 700 Grand Ave, Iowa, is a full-time, non-management position within the Food and Beverage and Culinary category. This position focuses on food preparation duties critical to delivering the impeccable dining experiences JW Marriott is celebrated for. The Food Preparation Associate is responsible for preparing ingredients, including portioning, chopping, and storing food items, as well as washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables. They will weigh, measure, and mix ingredients accurately and prepare and cook food according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation requirements. Operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers is a key function, alongside testing food for appropriate cooking and monitoring quality throughout the preparation process.

Additionally, the role involves preparing cold foods, setting up and breaking down workstations, serving food in correct portions, and maintaining stringent sanitation practices by washing and disinfecting kitchen areas, tools, knives, and equipment. The Food Preparation Associate must ensure the correctness of food and appliance temperatures and strictly adhere to all company safety and security policies, including reporting maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions. Personal appearance must be clean and professional, and confidentiality concerning proprietary information is mandated.

The position demands physical endurance, including standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, reaching overhead and below the knees, and handling objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
