The facility prides itself on fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, bringing together individuals from varied backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints. This commitment to inclusion not only enhances the workplace culture but also enriches the quality of care delivered to its residents.

The role of the Cook at Lindsay Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation is pivotal in maintaining high standards of food service and ensuring that dietary needs are met with accuracy and care. This position is responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, reporting directly to the Dietary Supervisor. The cook plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary kitchen and cooking area. Preparing tasteful meals and cooking a variety of foods in large quantities are essential aspects of this job. The cook follows prepared menus and portion control guides diligently and prepares special diets accurately to meet the unique dietary requirements of residents.

In addition to cooking, the Cook is responsible for recording food temperatures to ensure safety standards are met and preparing pureed foods as required. The role requires collaboration with personnel across various departments, promoting a harmonious working environment. Routine maintenance such as keeping the sanitizer buckets with quaternary solutions, assisting with meal service, and cleaning cooking and serving areas are part of the daily duties. Reporting any resident care concerns or potential issues to the Administrator or Director of Nurses is also a critical responsibility.

This position includes supervisory duties in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor and requires a willingness to supervise and work under supervision. The cook ensures that cleaning schedules are strictly followed and participates in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff. The ability to make food presentations appealing to residents enhances the overall dining experience, reinforcing the facility’s commitment to quality care. The Cook’s role is dynamic, requiring adaptability, cooperation, and a commitment to maintaining high hygiene and safety standards in a healthcare setting.

This position offers a competitive salary starting at $17.48 per hour, depending on experience and education. Additional compensation opportunities such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonuses may also be available. Lindsay Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to providing consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected status.
