The role of the Deli Bakery HMS Department Manager at Food Lion Store 01434 in Greensboro is a critical leadership and operational position. This role primarily supports the management team in daily store operations to achieve sales and financial goals, while building strong associate and customer relationships. The Deli Bakery HMS Manager ensures smooth department operations by overseeing scheduling, ordering, receiving, preparation, and merchandising, always aligning with Food Lion's brand culture and strategic goals. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in retail or grocery store operations preferred
  • Leadership experience in managing a team
  • Accredited Certified Food Safety Manager or willingness to obtain within 90 days
  • Ability to work standing for extended periods
  • Ability to push or pull up to 2000 pounds with pallet jack
  • Ability to lift products up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Capability to use computers and communication systems
  • Willingness to comply with company dress code and safety regulations
  • Must meet minimum legal age requirements
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions and tolerate extreme temperatures
  • Must successfully complete company training programs

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred
  • Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements
  • Ability to use technical information to solve problems
  • Must meet minimum age requirements for job functions
  • Accredited or able to become accredited as a Certified Food Safety Manager within 90 days and maintain accreditation

Job Duties

  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager including supervising associates
  • Daily management of labor and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of the Brand Strategy and Culture
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness emphasizing fast, easy, flexible and friendly customer service
  • Role model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to offer solutions exceeding customer expectations
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering and business information systems
  • Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety and sanitation standards are maintained
  • Ensure schedules provide extraordinary customer service and create bi-weekly schedules
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise according to policies
  • Observe and correct unsafe conditions
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Record and report associate and customer accidents following company procedures
  • Monitor shrink and coach associates to prevent losses
  • Ensure proper utilization of advertising and sales materials applicable to the department
  • Adhere to company guidelines, policies and standard practices
  • Maintain security standards
  • Maintain a neat and well-groomed personal appearance complying with dress code
  • Complete required training courses
  • Meet physical requirements of the position
  • Perform other duties as assigned
