Job Description

Our company is a reputable healthcare facility committed to providing high-quality food service to residents in a nursing home environment. We prioritize the health and well-being of our residents by ensuring nutritious and safe meals that meet their dietary needs. This establishment operates under strict guidelines and policies to maintain a sanitary and organized kitchen environment that supports the overall care given to our residents. We are dedicated to fostering a collaborative and positive atmosphere among our dietary and nursing staff teams to consistently deliver excellent service.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team who will play a vital role in managing and operating the kitchen during the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. This position reports directly to the Dietary Supervisor and is instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of all kitchen activities. The Cook will prepare and serve meals according to planned menus and resident-specific diet orders, strictly following food safety and sanitation guidelines. This role also involves assisting with food preparation, meal setup, and kitchen cleanup, ensuring that all tasks contribute to a clean, safe, and orderly kitchen environment.

The ideal candidate will have previous cooking experience, with a preference for those who have worked in healthcare, nursing home, or food service settings. Dependability, the ability to work scheduled shifts, and physical capability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods are essential. Strong communication and teamwork skills are required to collaborate effectively with the dietary team and nursing staff. Additional responsibilities include maintaining compliance with facility policies and procedures, and obtaining and maintaining a ServSafe Certificate as well as remaining in good standing with the Department of Public Health. Knowledge of PCC (PointClickCare) is preferred, enhancing coordination within our healthcare environment.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a structured yet supportive environment where dietary and nutritional care is deeply valued. It is a role filled with responsibility and the ability to directly impact the quality of life of nursing home residents through well-prepared and safe meals. The work environment is typically quiet to moderate in noise level, offering a comfortable setting for culinary duties. Reasonable accommodations can be provided to allow individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. We uphold equal opportunity employment practices, ensuring fair consideration for all candidates regardless of background or legal protections. This position is a cornerstone in our commitment to excellent dietary service and resident care.
