The Deli Bakery Department at Food Lion seeks dedicated individuals to join as Customer Service Associates. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality customer service and maintaining the standards set forth in the company's standard practice manual. The position involves responsibilities such as preparing and presenting deli and bakery products attractively, understanding ingredient usage and production standards, and upholding rigorous sanitation and food safety protocols. The ideal candidate will contribute to maximizing sales by engaging customers positively while minimizing waste through the proper handling of merchandise. This role plays a crucial part in creating an enjoyable shopping atmosphere by delivering courteous, efficient, and accurate service to every customer.

Associates in this role are expected to utilize company tools effectively, including inventory management systems like the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and computerized ordering systems (CAO). They must complete all required training programs, including computer-based training (CBT) and practical training aids, to ensure proficiency in job functions and compliance with company policies. Food safety and workplace safety guidelines are paramount, with associates responsible for identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and reporting any accidents promptly. This full-time role is based in the Greensboro, NC location, specifically at 2208 Golden Gate Dr. Food Lion values a neat and professional appearance, with a dress code requiring uniforms including aprons and name badges while on duty.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements
  • Ability to use technical information effectively
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Must meet physical requirements including lifting and standing for long periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions
  • Must adhere to company dress code and safety policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience
  • Courteous and helpful to other associates
  • Understand the use of ingredients, mixes, and icings and coordinates colors
  • Understand production standards for processing of all product
  • Follow all technical manuals for processing of product, label placement, etc.
  • Ensure proper sanitation of department, equipment and proper food handling/preparation
  • Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with policies and guidelines
  • Maintain a complete understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies and standard practice
  • Understand and follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
  • Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents
  • Report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to the Food Lion dress code
  • Understand and use company tools such as
  • average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO)
  • Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
