Located in Richmond, Virginia, the store situated at 6425 Iron Bridge Place is currently seeking a motivated individual to join their Deli Bakery Department. This position is categorized under Retail Operations, focusing on enhancing customer experience within the deli and bakery segments. As part of the Food Lion team, the deli/bakery associate plays a critical role in maintaining high standards of product quality, customer service, and operational efficiency. The role emphasizes adherence to Food Lion's standard practice manual to ensure consistency across all daily operational activities.
The deli/bakery associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service by creating a friendly and positive shopping experience. The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact courteously with customers and other associates. They will be expected to understand technical details such as ingredient usage, mixing processes, icings, and production standards required to maintain the quality and appearance of bakery products. The associate will also be charged with maintaining proper sanitation and safety standards to comply with health regulations and Food Lion's policies.
Furthermore, this position involves managing aspects like ordering, receiving, preparation, and merchandising of deli and bakery products, ensuring stock rotation and display standards are met to prevent shrinkage. The candidate should be knowledgeable about inventory systems and company tools, including the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and computerized ordering (CAO). Food Lion supports ongoing learning through Computer Based Training (CBT), training packets, and aid courses, emphasizing continuous improvement and professional development within the role.
Physical demands include the ability to perform repetitive motions, lifting weight up to 50 pounds occasionally, and standing or walking for prolonged periods. Job Duties
- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience
- Courteous and helpful to other associates
- Understand the use of ingredients, mixes, and icings and coordinates colors
- Understand production standards for processing of all product
- Follow all technical manuals for processing of product, label placement, etc.
- Ensure proper sanitation of department, equipment and proper food handling/preparation
- Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with policies and guidelines
- Maintain a complete understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies and standard practice
- Understand and follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
- Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents
- Report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to the Food Lion dress code
- Understand and use company tools such as
- average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO)
- Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses
- Perform all other duties as assigned
