Food Lion is a well-established grocery retail company that has been serving customers since 1957. With a footprint spanning 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states, Food Lion boasts a workforce of approximately 82,000 associates dedicated to providing exceptional value, fresh products, and an accessible shopping experience to over 10 million customers weekly. The company prides itself on its community-oriented approach, commitment to quality, and fostering a supportive and engaging work culture. Known for offering affordable prices alongside high standards in food quality and store presentation, Food Lion continues to grow and adapt in the competitive retail grocery industry.
The Deli Bakery HMS Supervisor role at Food Lion is a key leadership position within the store's operations. This role is responsible for assisting in the management and daily operations of the deli bakery department to help achieve financial targets and sales goals. The supervisor supports the Deli Manager by overseeing department associates, managing labor and productivity, enforcing safety and food quality standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Leadership and motivation are core components of the role, with an emphasis on maintaining a positive culture aligned with Food Lion's brand strategy. The position requires strong communication across the management team and store associates, contributing to overall store success.
In this role, the supervisor directs day-to-day deli bakery activities including scheduling, inventory control, ordering, and merchandising to comply with company policies and industry standards. The position demands a hands-on approach to ensure department appearance, safety, sanitation, and quality are consistently maintained. The supervisor also handles training and coaching associates to improve performance and minimize shrinkage. A significant focus is placed on customer service excellence and aligning department operations with store-wide goals.
Candidates for this position should be able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, navigate company financial and operational tools such as the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS), and maintain regulatory compliance. The role requires physical ability to perform duties involving lifting, pushing, and standing for extended periods. Food Lion supports associate development and expects a commitment to ongoing learning and certification, particularly in food safety accreditation. This full-time supervisory position offers a dynamic work environment within a respected retail organization that values teamwork, integrity, and customer-centric service.
