Job Description

Indigenous Eats is a fast-paced, team-oriented restaurant dedicated to showcasing Native-inspired food, community, and hospitality. Located in vibrant locations including Boone and Downtown, Indigenous Eats prides itself on delivering a unique and authentic dining experience centered around frybread, a beloved traditional dish that forms the heart of their menu. The restaurant’s culture emphasizes respect, care, and consistency, reflecting the deep cultural importance of frybread within Indigenous communities. Every aspect of the customer journey at Indigenous Eats is designed to highlight the connection between food, heritage, and community gathering.

As a Frybread / Bread Team Member, you will play a critical role in maintaining the high standards and consistency that Indigenous Eats is known for. This position calls for a dependable individual who takes pride in preparing frybread with the utmost attention to detail. The ideal candidate will embrace the hands-on kitchen work, maintain focus during busy service periods, and also demonstrate strong customer engagement skills. At Indigenous Eats, the role extends beyond the kitchen; all team members contribute to the overall guest experience, ensuring that every customer interaction is positive, welcoming, and aligned with the restaurant’s values.

In this role, you will be responsible for producing frybread that meets exact standards of size, texture, appearance, and quality. Following established recipes and procedures precisely is essential, as this ensures consistency and preserves the traditional nature of the dish. Attention to rhythm, timing, and process adherence will be key to success, especially during peak service hours where fast and efficient production is crucial.

Beyond frybread preparation, you will manage the bread station by keeping it clean, organized, and fully stocked. Monitoring cooking conditions such as oil levels and temperature will be part of your daily tasks to guarantee the best frybread quality. This position also involves front-of-house duties, including taking customer orders, running food, assisting other stations, and contributing to an overall smooth and enjoyable service. You will be expected to engage with guests respectfully and knowledgeably, answering questions about the menu and highlighting the significance of frybread within Indigenous Eats’ offerings.

Working at Indigenous Eats means embracing a fast-paced environment where teamwork, communication, and reliability are paramount. You will be sharing responsibilities such as receiving deliveries, restocking, cleaning, and supporting the team by anticipating needs and adjusting to dynamic situations without constant oversight. Flexibility is important, as scheduling includes nights and weekends, and training requires availability at both Indigenous Eats locations to meet business demands.

Indigenous Eats offers not just a job but an opportunity to become part of a community-focused team that celebrates Indigenous culture through food and hospitality. The restaurant values dedication, respect for tradition, and a passion for quality food service. Employees receive competitive pay starting from $17.13 per hour, along with benefits like employee discounts, paid sick time, and paid time off. Indigenous Eats welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and encourages people with a criminal record to apply, reflecting their commitment to inclusion and equity within the workplace.
