Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years previous secretarial experience in healthcare or medical office or related experience
  • Ability to operate multi-line phone system
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information

  • Ability to maintain office equipment and supplies

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greet patients at arrival and initiate appropriate paperwork
  • Complete patient registration, insurance verification, and co-payment collection
  • Work electronic medical record work queues to correct registration errors
  • Obtain pre-authorizations from insurance companies and interact with third parties for necessary paperwork
  • Update patient charts and notify clinical associates of patient arrivals
  • Answer multi-line phone system and direct calls to appropriate staff
  • Provide clerical support including faxing documentation, completing forms like disability and FMLA, processing patient record releases
  • Manage industrial claims in the EMR system, attach dictations, and add diagnosis allowances and authorization numbers
  • Organize and file patient charts including scanning and docutrack
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in continuing education seminars
  • Sort, distribute, and mail transcription
  • Order and stock office supplies
  • Ensure office equipment is clean and well-maintained
  • Provide support to staff members as assigned
