Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years previous secretarial experience in healthcare or medical office or related experience
- Ability to operate multi-line phone system
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Strong organizational skills

- Ability to maintain office equipment and supplies

- Familiarity with insurance verification and billing processes
Job Duties
- Greet patients at arrival and initiate appropriate paperwork
- Complete patient registration, insurance verification, and co-payment collection
- Work electronic medical record work queues to correct registration errors
- Obtain pre-authorizations from insurance companies and interact with third parties for necessary paperwork
- Update patient charts and notify clinical associates of patient arrivals
- Answer multi-line phone system and direct calls to appropriate staff
- Provide clerical support including faxing documentation, completing forms like disability and FMLA, processing patient record releases
- Manage industrial claims in the EMR system, attach dictations, and add diagnosis allowances and authorization numbers
- Organize and file patient charts including scanning and docutrack
- Attend staff meetings and participate in continuing education seminars
- Sort, distribute, and mail transcription
- Order and stock office supplies
- Ensure office equipment is clean and well-maintained
- Provide support to staff members as assigned
