Job Description
Lower Lights Christian Health Center (LLCHC) is a pivotal healthcare provider dedicated to transforming the overall health of Central Ohio. As a community-focused organization, LLCHC is committed to delivering whole-person wellness care to every individual in the region, regardless of their ability to pay. Established as a multi-site health center, LLCHC operates across seven locations, offering a wide array of services including primary care, dental, vision, OB/GYN, telehealth, behavioral health services, a 340B pharmacy, and nutritional assistance programs. In 2021 alone, LLCHC served over 12,000 patients with approximately 28 percent being uninsured, totaling more than 50,000 medical encounters. This breadth of service underscores the organization's vital role in improving access to comprehensive healthcare services across Central Ohio.
LLCHC's mission centers around inclusivity, ensuring healthcare access for all community members, with an emphasis on compassionate care and patient-centered services. The organization's operational hours are Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday morning coverage, providing flexible appointment options for patients. The workplace culture at LLCHC emphasizes respect, collaboration, and continuous professional growth, fostering an environment where both patients and staff thrive.
The role of Front Office Specialist at LLCHC is integral to the smooth operation of patient care services. This position serves as the primary point of contact between patients, medical support staff, the contact center, and various service sites. A Front Office Specialist is responsible for greeting and checking in patients, managing patient charts, collecting co-pays, and ensuring that patient flow aligns with the scheduling system at each site. This role also involves directing non-patient visitors, maintaining appointment schedules, verifying insurance, and processing patient financial information accurately.
Individuals in this position utilize medical interpretation tools to communicate effectively with non-English speaking patients, demonstrating cultural competence and empathy. The Front Office Specialist must be adept at handling sensitive patient interactions, including rescheduling, follow-up communications, and de-escalating upset patients when necessary, always prioritizing safety and patient satisfaction.
Beyond patient interaction, the role requires organizational skills to prepare necessary documentation such as encounter forms and to keep the medical records system up to date with patient data and scanned documents. Safety, cleanliness, and organization of the business office environment are also key responsibilities, contributing to a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
Employees at LLCHC are encouraged to participate in ongoing education and professional development, attending required meetings, in-service programs, and potential committee involvement. This commitment to continuous growth ensures that staff are knowledgeable about current policies, procedures, and evolving healthcare practices. The organization supports this with opportunities for further education, including office management certification training, which can open doors for future career advancement.
LLCHC values mission-driven individuals who are passionate about impacting community health positively. The ideal candidate embraces diversity, works collaboratively with team members, and is proactive in personal and professional development. The organization offers a supportive and inclusive work environment, committed to equal employment opportunities and free from discrimination of any kind.
