Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role preferably within a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes
- Basic computer skills including MS Office
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Customer service orientation
Job Duties
- Check patients in upon arrival by verifying and scanning required identification and insurance cards
- Ensure completion of all required new patient and follow-up forms
- Collect time-of-service payments including copays and self-pay balances
- Check patients out following provider instructions including printing educational materials and scheduling follow-ups
- Schedule new patient appointments and manage referral intake
- Contact patients to collect demographic, insurance, and referral information
- Verify patient insurance coverage and communicate details clearly
- Request PCP referrals and HMO authorizations as required
- Enter and track new patient referrals
- Answer incoming patient phone calls professionally
- Manage patient voicemails and route messages appropriately
- Monitor and manage front desk and personal inboxes within the EMR
- Respond to patient portal messages and complete assigned administrative tasks
- Verify patient insurance eligibility using payer portals
- Contact patients or insurers to resolve coverage questions
- Perform additional duties to support front desk operations and clinic efficiency
