Job Duties
- Greeting patients as they arrive at the front desk or checkout
- answering telephone calls, taking messages or directing caller to appropriate area
- scheduling / rescheduling appointments for patients according to established guidelines
- taking messages off voice mail lines
- preparing electronic charts for appointments
- electronically filing medical record information
- reviewing demographic information with patients according to established guidelines
- obtaining signed HIPAA and other forms that are not obtained electronically
- obtaining current insurance information from patient
- collecting co-pays or balance due
- notifying appropriate nurse/medical assistant of any same day schedule changes
- assessing the waiting room to be sure no one is missed
- updating patient information for chart and billing staff
- balancing cash and charge tickets at the end of each day
- sending mammography letters
- filing scanned medical records
- receiving, sending and electronically filing faxes
- shredding confidential documents
