The Front Office Manager role at Mandarin Oriental New York is a pivotal leadership position within the Front Office Department, based at the iconic property in New York City. This management position entails overseeing the Front Office team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest service, and maintaining the hotel’s high standards of quality and performance. As a Front Office Manager, you will be responsible for supervising, delegating, and supporting the Guest Service Agents, Bell Persons, and Door Persons to guarantee a warm and seamless arrival and departure experience for every guest. The role includes serving as the Manager on Duty, which requires being available to guests at all times, ensuring appropriate staffing, compiling daily reports, and acting as a communication hub between guests and hotel departments.
The Front Office Manager will take pride in personally welcoming VIP and repeat guests and anticipating their individual needs to provide a Legendary Quality Experience that aligns with Mandarin Oriental’s brand standards. This position also involves aspects of human resources management, such as staff training, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions to uphold the highest standards of personal hygiene, behavior, and grooming among the front office team. The Front Office Manager will continuously identify quality improvement trends and effectively communicate these insights to the Assistant Director of Front Office. Collaboration and teamwork across departments are essential to succeed in this fast-paced luxury hotel environment. This role reports directly to the Director of Front Office and offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the guest experience at one of the most prestigious hotels in New York City. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in front office or hospitality management preferred
- strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- ability to manage and motivate a team
- excellent problem-solving abilities
- flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings and nights
- proficiency in hotel management software

Job Duties
- Supervise and assist Guest Service Agents with their duties
- ensure a warm and genuine arrival and departure experience
- maintain a Front Office information folder with up-to-date information
- serve as the Manager on Duty and be available to guests at all times
- ensure proper staffing and compile the daily Manager on Duty report
- personally welcome VIPs and repeat guests and anticipate their needs
- perform human resources functions including training, coaching, and disciplinary actions
- maintain high standards of staff hygiene, behavior, and grooming
- identify quality improvement trends and communicate with Assistant Director of Front Office
- handle guest complaints tactfully
- cooperate and coordinate with other departments
- perform other duties as required by management
