The position of Front Office Manager at Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the comprehensive front desk operations. This role combines managerial duties with the hands-on management of front office staff, ensuring smooth and efficient guest services. The Front Office Manager will play a key role in staff training, scheduling, and the fostering of effective inter-department communication, particularly with housekeeping and other service teams. Exceptional communication and leadership skills are essential, as the manager will be tasked with coaching staff to uphold Hyatt's renowned service standards.

In addition to daily operational oversight, this position requires strategic planning and budget management to meet both short and long-term goals. The manager will be responsible for creating and recommending budgets and labor cost plans, managing inventory of guest rooms, and ensuring all financial transactions adhere to established policies. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive hotel rooms management experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience within rooms division
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Experience with budget and labor cost management
  • Ability to resolve guest complaints effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • 4 years or more of progressive hotel rooms management experience typically with Hyatt
  • Previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
  • Service oriented style with professional presentation skills
  • At least 2 years progressive management experience within the rooms division of a hotel
  • Hotel/hospitality degree an asset
  • Must possess high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, effective communication skills, ability to provide exceptional customer service and improve the bottom line
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills

Job Duties

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the hotel's front office operations
  • Develop and recommend the budget, labor cost plans and objectives and manages within those approved plans
  • Maintain guest room inventory
  • Coach and counsel colleagues to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
  • Perform all tasks of a front office staff as needed to facilitate service
  • Ensure all operations and cash handling are done per policies and procedures
  • Maintain excellent communication with the housekeeping department
  • Maintain information on prices, rates, specials, packages, programs, etc, while ensuring all staff are trained in all areas
  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve guest complaints
  • Create expectations, lead people, manage processes, and hold people accountable for the agreed upon activities and time tables
  • Ensures proper staffing levels for customer service goals
