Job Description
The Wildbirch Hotel is an upscale boutique hotel located in the heart of Anchorage's downtown Mushing District. It holds the distinction of being the city's first upscale boutique hotel and serves as a dynamic hub for both travelers and locals alike. The hotel features 252 design-forward accommodations, including suites that showcase artwork curated in partnership with the Anchorage Museum. With multiple onsite food and beverage concepts, including a brewery and cafe, as well as communal outdoor decks offering breathtaking views of Mount Susitna and Knik Arm, The Wildbirch Hotel offers guests a unique blend of modern comfort combined with the adventurous spirit of Alaska. The hotel's Adventure Desk connects guests with premier outdoor experiences such as glacier tours and world-class salmon fishing at nearby Ship Creek. Scheduled to open in early 2025, The Wildbirch Hotel will become part of the JdV by Hyatt brand, providing guests access to exclusive member benefits through the World of Hyatt loyalty program.
As the Front Office Manager at The Wildbirch Hotel, your role is multifaceted and deeply integral to the guest experience. You will lead a dedicated team that embodies the hotel's spirit of adventure, cultural immersion, and local charm. Your leadership will foster an environment where guests feel welcomed, connected to the local culture, wilderness adventures, and to each other from the moment they check in until they leave. You will ensure operational efficiency while inspiring your team to deliver impeccable service reflective of the hotel's brand values. Being intimately familiar with Anchorage's cultural hotspots, local attractions, and outdoor activities, you will serve not just as a hospitality expert but also a local ambassador, enriching each guest's stay with personalized recommendations and curated experiences like viewing the Iditarod race or the Northern Lights.
Your responsibilities will include managing the entire Front Office operation to align with brand values and financial goals. This entails overseeing scheduling, budgeting, and inventory management, as well as ensuring that all financial procedures are compliant with established policies. You will also be tasked with maintaining a deep understanding of the hotel's room features, amenities, packages, promotions, and availability, ensuring that your team is equally knowledgeable. Daily operational oversight includes inspecting the lobby and front entry areas for cleanliness and readiness, monitoring quality of service delivery, and maintaining a high standard of experiential touchpoints for guests.
Leadership is a critical aspect of your role. You will provide strong communication, mentorship, and collaborative skills to encourage team synergy and professional growth. Working closely with other departments—housekeeping, maintenance, food & beverage, and sales—you will ensure a seamless guest experience that embodies the Wildbirch Hotel's authentic, approachable, and adventurous identity. This position requires a commitment to weekend and evening shifts to meet the demands of the hospitality business. Overall, as Front Office Manager, you will play a pivotal role in crafting unforgettable experiences for guests while driving the Front Office team to achieve both operational excellence and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
