Job Description

The Whitaker Group is a distinguished hospitality company known for operating a diverse portfolio of full-service restaurants, bars, and culinary destinations. With a commitment to excellence and creating memorable guest experiences, The Whitaker Group fosters a dynamic and inclusive work culture that values professional growth, innovation, and a passion for hospitality. Based in Chicago, IL, the company has established a reputation for elevating food and beverage concepts that blend exceptional cuisine with outstanding service in vibrant, stylish environments. As an employer, The Whitaker Group offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, quarterly bonuses, and numerous opportunities for upward mobility within its expanding food and beverage portfolio.

The Front of House (FOH) Manager role at The Whitaker Group is a pivotal leadership position within their full-service restaurant in Chicago, IL. This hands-on managerial role calls for a seasoned hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-oriented environment and is equally adept at overseeing operational financials while inspiring and developing a high-performing FOH team. The FOH Manager will be responsible for managing the restaurant's front-of-house operations including dining room services, bar management, and event spaces, ensuring that every guest touchpoint reflects the company's elevated service standards.

This role demands a collaborative approach, working closely with the Back of House (BOH) leadership to deliver seamless and consistent service that exceeds guest expectations. Financial acumen is critical, as the FOH Manager owns the Profit and Loss (P&L) reporting, labor cost management, and inventory control processes, driving operational efficiency and profitability. In addition to day-to-day operations, this role will also involve executing special private events and curated programmed experiences such as tastings and buyouts, contributing to the venue's vibrant community and brand presence.

The ideal candidate for the FOH Manager position will bring at least five years of progressive experience in full-service restaurant environments along with supervisory or management experience. Educational credentials include a bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality Management, or a related field. The role requires current ServSafe Manager Certification and a City of Chicago Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate, underscoring the company’s uncompromising commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. An understanding of labor scheduling software, inventory and vendor coordination experience, and the ability to hire, train, and mentor FOH team members are all essential for success.

This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for a hospitality professional eager to contribute to a premier dining destination while shaping the guest experience and operational excellence at The Whitaker Group. Those who thrive on accountability, team leadership, financial oversight, and delivering unparalleled customer satisfaction will find this role rewarding and impactful within Chicago’s vibrant culinary scene.
