Job Description
Rail Events Productions Inc. (REP) is a distinguished division of American Heritage Railways, specializing in the production of immersive live experiences aboard moving trains. Renowned for their innovative approach to entertainment and event management, REP creates dynamic and engaging theatrical presentations that combine the charm of rail travel with the magic of live performance. A notable production by REP is the acclaimed "Harry PotterTM: A Hogwarts Express Adventure," which offers guests an unparalleled interactive experience set on a moving train journey. REP prides itself on delivering high-quality, memorable events that seamlessly integrate customer service, safety, and entertainment, making it a leader in rail-based event production.
REP operates within a fast-paced and unique environment that demands excellence, teamwork, and adaptability. The company places a high value on creating a supportive workplace culture where every team member is encouraged to grow professionally while contributing to the successful execution of complex events. As part of its commitment to quality and innovation, REP utilizes advanced ticketing systems like ETix and emphasizes rigorous safety standards, especially given the railroad context of its productions. The company also ensures strong collaboration between various internal departments and external contractors to deliver smooth and enjoyable experiences for both staff and guests.
The Front of House & Business Manager role at REP is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing all front-of-house operations during the production of events such as "Harry PotterTM: A Hogwarts Express Adventure." This exempt, seasonal position offers a compensation of $1450 per week and reports directly to the REP Business Manager. The individual in this role serves as the primary REP representative and plays a critical part in coordinating customer service, ticketing, food service, and communication between production crews and train operations. This managerial role requires leadership skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a live event setting.
Key responsibilities include preproduction collaboration with the management team, managing staff recruitment for ticketing, catering, and parking, scheduling front-of-house staff, and ensuring full staffing coverage during events. The Front of House & Business Manager also handles payroll verification and supervises the Box Office, Catering, and Parking sectors, ensuring smooth operation throughout event phases including load-in and load-out. Familiarity with the ETix ticketing system is essential, as is the capacity to address customer service inquiries, onboard seating issues, and safety briefings. This role also involves daily coordination with stage management to guarantee safe train departures and returns, managing inventory of amenities, and supporting catering and hospitality services.
The nature of the work environment requires physical stamina to handle lifting heavy objects, the flexibility to work varied hours including evenings, weekends, and potential overtime, and the capability to work and move safely on uneven surfaces aboard a moving train. The position demands a proactive approach to maintaining a positive and inclusive work atmosphere, promoting professionalism, safety, and teamwork among all event staff and guests. Joining REP as a Front of House & Business Manager offers a unique opportunity to engage with a celebrated entertainment brand within a specialized and rewarding production setting. Candidates will be part of a collaborative and inclusive team committed to delivering magical experiences while upholding the highest standards of operational excellence and guest satisfaction.
