Job Description

This position is with a reputable hospitality establishment, likely a restaurant or similar dining venue, that places a strong emphasis on customer service, team coordination, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organization. The role reports directly to the Assistant Manager or General Manager, positioning it within the hospitality team as a supervisory and customer service-driven role. As a host or front-of-house coordinator, the individual is responsible for a wide range of duties that ensure guests feel welcomed and valued throughout their visit. This includes greeting and seating guests, managing table assignments fairly to balance server workload, and providing information about the establishment’s specialties and services. The role demands a high level of interpersonal skills, as it requires direct interaction with guests both in person and over the phone, answering inquiries, and resolving complaints effectively to maintain customer satisfaction.

In addition to guest interaction, this position plays a vital role in team coordination, ensuring that dining room staff provide timely and courteous service. This involves maintaining open communication lines with kitchen staff and management to address any dining details or customer concerns promptly. The role also includes responsibilities like maintaining cleanliness and organization of the host area, inspecting dining and restroom areas for cleanliness, managing to-go orders, and overseeing daily specials to keep guests informed.

Physical requirements for this position include the ability to stand or walk for extended periods (4-6 hours), lift and carry up to 30 pounds, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift. Candidates must also be comfortable handling customer interactions that may involve conflict resolution and navigating challenging social situations with professionalism and tact. The work environment is both indoors and, where applicable, includes outdoor or patio areas, requiring adaptability to different settings.

Job Duties

  • Complete training program and pass menu/computer tests
  • Come to work on time and prepared for your shift in proper uniform
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls
  • Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seatings
  • Direct patrons to coat racks and waiting areas such as bar
  • Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas
  • Inform patrons of establishment specialties and features
