Job Description
The hiring company is a well-established retail organization that operates within the consumer sales sector. Known for its commitment to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high operational standards, the company prides itself on fostering a friendly and professional environment for both its clients and employees. The organization operates numerous locations and offers various career advancement opportunities in a dynamic retail setting, focusing on enhancing the shopping experience through efficient staff management and customer interaction.
The role being offered is that of a Front End Supervisor within the sales department, reporting directly to the Branch Manager. This non-exempt position is pivotal in supervising the front-end operations, including cashiers, loaders, checkers, and U-Boat retrieval personnel. The Front End Supervisor ensures that customer service standards are met by training, evaluating, and supporting team members to deliver efficient, friendly, and professional service. This position demands a hands-on leader capable of handling customer complaints professionally and assisting customers with locating products and understanding detailed product information when necessary.
The Front End Supervisor is responsible for planning and preparing work schedules, including lunch and vacation breaks for the frontline staff, ensuring smooth store operations at all times. This role requires occasional operation of the cash register and performance of cashier check-outs when frontline staff needs assistance. The supervisor also carries out advanced functions such as managing voids, returns, price adjustments, and transaction cancellations, ensuring adherence to company policies and security procedures.
A critical aspect of the job is loss prevention by assisting checkers in verifying customer receipts against the items in their shopping carts, thereby minimizing shrinkage. The role requires proficient use of industry-specific software to promptly resolve customer inquiries, perform price checks, handle inventory queries, and address pricing discrepancies accurately. This function is essential in maintaining operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent with significant experience in customer service or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree. They should possess strong analytical skills to interpret business documents, efficient communication abilities to interact with managers, clients, and the public, and a solid commitment to the company’s values and customer orientation. Computer literacy and high interpersonal skills are necessary to manage sensitive situations effectively.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and 20 pounds constantly, with various physical aptitudes such as agility, finger and manual dexterity, and posture tolerance rated between 80 and 119 percent, depending on the task. The work environment features room temperature conditions that may vary seasonally due to proximity to entry doors and store activity levels.
This comprehensive supervisory role offers the opportunity to lead a crucial part of the sales department, improving both operational performance and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced retail environment. Ideal candidates will bring dedication, leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of front-end retail operations to this dynamic role.
