The Front End Lead role at BJ's Wholesale Club plays a crucial part in the club’s daily operations by overseeing front-line team members in the absence of the Front End Manager. The Front End Lead is responsible for driving membership programs and initiatives, supporting team member training and engagement, and maintaining operational standards that promote a safe, positive member and employee experience. Key responsibilities include supervising cashiers, self-checkout operators, and membership desk associates while providing excellent customer service and handling escalated member concerns efficiently. The Front End Lead leads by example, modeling BJ's GOLD Member Service Standards—Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate—and ensures that all club standards related to cleanliness, signage, and merchandising are upheld. Additionally, the role requires managing point-of-sale systems, processing transactions, and supporting the onboarding and development of team members through coaching and training initiatives. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior retail or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to stand and move frequently, handling merchandise including lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to provide excellent customer service and resolve member concerns
  • Must be able to use point-of-sale systems and online task management tools
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance required

Job Qualifications

  • Prior leadership experience preferred
  • Prior membership or sales knowledge and experience preferred
  • Prior cashier experience preferred
  • Basic math skills required

Job Duties

  • Supervises the front line including cashiers, SCO, and membership desk in the absence of the Front End Manager
  • Models and provides excellent Member service while coaching, teaching and developing team members
  • Drives membership metrics through acquisition, retention, loyalty and experience programs
  • Drives member engagement, speed, and productivity on the front end
  • Trains, coaches, motivates, recognizes, and provides input on evaluation of frontline team members
  • Utilizes cashier observation forms, cashier productivity boards, and membership metrics reports to drive performance and Member engagement
  • Performs front end responsibilities including closing through POS and handling member escalated service issues
