The Front-End Associate role at Spec's is crucial to maintaining these high standards of customer service. This full-time or part-time role typically requires 35 hours per week for full-time and up to 25 hours for part-time, with availability on weekends to meet business needs. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or general education degree preferred
  • cashiering experience preferred but not required
  • ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions
  • strong communication skills, including phone etiquette
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • ability to calculate discounts and percentages
  • friendly, outgoing, and helpful demeanor
  • responsible, reliable, and committed to service excellence
  • ability to complete tasks timely and look for additional responsibilities
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment
  • valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit
  • food handlers permit as applicable

Job Duties

  • know and actively demonstrate company mission statement and core values daily
  • maintain uniform standards for all worked hours
  • greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor using guest service scripts
  • operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed
  • ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode
  • properly use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment
  • suggestively sell items and offer add-ons including the charity of the month
  • monitor merchandise brought to the register for accurate pricing
  • redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required
  • ask guests to read and answer pin pad questions independently
  • check IDs and use 36 sign-in for legal sales
  • receive various payment types and issue receipts
  • accurately count change back to guests
  • bag or box merchandise carefully
  • assist with carry-outs when feasible
  • record totals of transactions on daily sheet
  • call code for cash drop to maintain till balance
  • keep work area clean and does not overstock counter
  • count down drawer and prepare final drop at shift end
  • answer guest questions and resolve complaints courteously
  • avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present
  • avoid use of personal cell phone on sales floor
  • stock shelves and check price tags as needed
  • monitor checkout station supplies
  • prepare areas for inventory and assist as needed
  • carry out management directives efficiently
  • perform additional tasks as assigned including restroom cleaning
  • adhere to attendance and timeliness policies
  • stand for most of shift and use proper lifting techniques
  • work in compliance with safety regulations
  • practice teamwork and effective time management
  • manage stress in fast-paced environment
