The Front-End Associate role at Specs is essential to the retail operation, focusing on delivering a superior and welcoming experience for every guest. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to stand for most of the shift
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to push or pull weights up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Must be available to work weekends and majority of scheduled shifts
  • Attendance and punctuality are mandatory
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions
  • Maintain a friendly, reliable, and responsible demeanor
  • Must complete TABC certification and maintain valid permit
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations
  • No use of personal cell phone on sales floor
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage stress
  • Willingness to assist in various tasks including cleaning restrooms

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions
  • Strong communication skills including phone etiquette
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions
  • Patience, friendliness, and outgoing personality
  • Ability to work effectively as a self-starter
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
  • Valid TABC Beverage Seller Permit required
  • Food Handler Permit is a plus

Job Duties

  • Know and actively demonstrate daily the company mission statement and core values
  • Maintain uniform standards as per employee manual during all work hours
  • Greet guests with a friendly and helpful demeanor using the guest services script
  • Operate cash register or electronic scanner accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode
  • Use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment properly
  • Suggestively sell items including charity of the month
  • Monitor merchandise to ensure accurate amounts are charged
  • Redeem coupons and weigh produce items as required
  • Ensure guests read and answer pin pad questions during transactions
  • Check identification properly to comply with legal sale requirements
  • Receive various forms of payment including cash, checks, debit and credit cards, gift cards
  • Issue receipts and accurate change to guests
  • Bag or box merchandise business-mindedly
  • Assist with carry-outs when feasible
  • Keep the work area clean and neat
  • Count and prepare cash drawer at shift end
  • Answer guest questions and resolve complaints courteously
  • Avoid personal conversations and cell phone use during service
  • Stock shelves and check price tags as needed
  • Monitor checkout station supplies
  • Prepare for and assist in inventory processes
  • Follow management directives efficiently
  • Demonstrate care, attention to detail, teamwork, time management, and stress management
  • Stand most of shift and lift up to 50 pounds using proper techniques
  • Comply with all safety regulations and OSHA standards
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned by management
