Job Description
Marriott International is a leading global hospitality company known for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences across its diverse portfolio of brands. Among its luxury offerings, JW Marriott stands out as a symbol of elegance and superior service, featuring more than 100 distinguished properties located in key gateway cities and unique resort destinations worldwide. Marriott International places a high value on its employees, emphasizing a culture where associates are supported, valued, and given opportunities to grow and succeed in their careers. The company is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, embracing individuals from varied backgrounds, and promoting a respectful and professional workplace environment.
JW Marriott, part of Marriott International's luxury portfolio, believes in putting associates first with the philosophy that happy employees lead to satisfied guests. The brand is known for its innovative, genuine, and confident associates who carry forward the legacy of its founder, J. Willard Marriott. JW Marriott's work environment promotes a strong sense of community and camaraderie among co-workers, offering extensive training, development, and recognition programs. These programs encourage personal and professional growth while fostering a holistic approach to well-being. This creates a unique workplace where associates can fully pursue their passions in a luxury hospitality setting. The company’s trademark "JW Treatment" reflects its commitment to exceptional care for both guests and employees, providing an environment where each associate can be their best self.
This full-time, non-management position is located at the JW Marriott property at 1800 Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame, California. The role offers a competitive hourly wage of $34.25, supporting a flexible schedule to accommodate work-life balance. The position falls under the "Rooms & Guest Services Operations" category, focusing on delivering outstanding customer service through a variety of front-facing functions.
The role primarily involves assisting with guest check-in and payment processing, ensuring seamless and efficient service, and addressing any payment-related issues, such as credit card processing problems. The incumbent will be responsible for verifying reservations, assigning rooms, issuing room keys, and accurately setting up guest accounts to handle various payment types including cash, checks, debit, and credit cards. The position requires anticipating full occupancy situations and making arrangements for alternative accommodations when necessary, thereby maintaining guest satisfaction and loyalty.
Effective communication and coordination with other hotel departments such as housekeeping and bell services are key to this role. The associate is expected to track room readiness, handle guest requests and complaints promptly, and ensure the property’s operational standards are upheld through meticulous documentation and adherence to company policies. The role includes balancing cash receipts, maintaining security protocols by counting and managing bank funds, and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures.
Additionally, the associate will support managerial functions by assisting in the hiring, training, scheduling, and motivating of team members, acting as a point of contact for employee concerns under Marriott's Open Door Policy. There is also an emphasis on maintaining safety standards through reporting accidents and unsafe conditions and completing mandated training and certifications.
Candidates should be prepared for physical activities such as standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and handling objects weighing up to 10 pounds. The employer prioritizes a professional appearance, confidentiality of proprietary information, and superior communication skills to foster positive relations among guests and team members alike.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a reputable luxury hotel brand with a strong commitment to employee development and guest satisfaction. JW Marriott invites candidates who are passionate about hospitality and eager to contribute to a dynamic team environment where they can grow and thrive while delivering the highest standards of service.
