Job Description

SoCal Eye is a leading ophthalmic practice dedicated to providing exceptional eye care services to its patients. Located in Southern California, the practice is renowned for its commitment to high-quality medical care, advanced technologies, and a patient-centered approach. The team at SoCal Eye comprises highly skilled ophthalmologists, optometrists, and support staff who work collaboratively to ensure that every patient receives the best possible treatment tailored to their individual needs. With a focus on comprehensive eye health, the practice offers a wide range of services including diagnostic exams, surgeries, and ongoing management of eye conditions. The environment at SoCal Eye is fast-paced yet supportive, encouraging professional growth and fostering a culture of excellence and compassion.

The role of Front Desk Representative at SoCal Eye is essential to the day-to-day operation of the busy ophthalmic practice. Serving as the initial point of contact, the Front Desk Representative plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring the smooth flow of patient intake and administrative processes. This position involves greeting patients, visitors, and vendors, registering them accurately, managing appointment scheduling, verifying insurance information, and collecting payments. The Front Desk Representative must be detail-oriented and possess excellent communication skills to efficiently handle the complexities of patient check-in and check-out procedures.

Key responsibilities include obtaining patient demographics and insurance details, updating records, managing phone communications, and working closely with the billing department to confirm the accuracy of patient information for claims processing. This role also requires the ability to handle inquiries related to office services, exam fees, and insurance coverage while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements. Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to resolve complaints and manage scheduling changes such as cancellations and no-shows.

The position is typically office-based, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, frequent use of a computer, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks. SoCal Eye values professionalism and expects the Front Desk Representative to contribute to a clean and welcoming waiting area while upholding patient confidentiality and strict practice policies. Bilingual skills in Spanish are considered a plus, enhancing communication within the diverse patient population.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with 1 to 3 years of experience in medical office customer service or as a medical receptionist, particularly those with knowledge of ophthalmology or insurance billing processes. Familiarity with medical terminology and proficiency in practice management and electronic health record software, especially Compulink, are highly preferred. The role demands excellent organizational capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask efficiently under minimal supervision in a dynamic healthcare setting. Overall, the Front Desk Representative position at SoCal Eye offers a rewarding career path for professionals dedicated to contributing meaningfully to patient experience and healthcare operations.
