Job Description
Atlantic Dermatology, a prominent dermatology practice, is currently seeking a full-time Front Desk Receptionist for its Wilmington, NC office. With a reputation for delivering exceptional patient-focused care, Atlantic Dermatology operates as part of the broader Anne Arundel Dermatology network, which has been a trusted leader in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology for over 50 years. Featuring more than 300 providers and over 110 locations across seven states, Anne Arundel Dermatology maintains a strong commitment to offering high-quality healthcare solutions while expanding its footprint across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. The Wilmington office embodies this commitment by providing a welcoming, efficient, and organized environment for patients in need of specialized dermatologic services.
This Front Desk Receptionist role is pivotal in sustaining the office's smooth operation and excellent patient experience. This position requires a proactive individual who enjoys working closely with patients and managing front office responsibilities in a busy outpatient setting. The Front Desk Receptionist supports crucial office workflows, including patient scheduling, check-in and check-out, communication, insurance verification, and general administrative tasks essential to daily office flow. Working full-time, Monday through Friday, for 40 hours per week, this role offers consistent, structured work hours valuable for those seeking a stable and engaging medical office environment.
As a Front Desk Receptionist at Atlantic Dermatology’s Wilmington office, your responsibilities span greeting patients with professionalism and warmth, managing appointment schedules, assisting with referrals, and acting as the primary contact for phone communications. You will be responsible for collecting copays, processing patient payments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining accurate patient records. A critical part of your role will be ensuring the reception area remains organized and efficient, tracking patient flow, and communicating with patients to maintain a seamless experience from arrival through departure. Additionally, the receptionist supports billing and insurance-related office workflows, helps manage office supplies, and ensures the accurate preparation of end-of-day reports. Your contributions are vital in fostering a positive, welcoming atmosphere and ensuring the office operates at peak efficiency.
This role is well-suited for someone with experience in medical office environments, particularly outpatient or specialty practices. Experience in dermatology is a plus but not mandatory. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be proficient with electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management systems, and demonstrate an ability to multitask and maintain organization in a fast-paced setting. Understanding HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality is essential, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Occasionally, the role may require traveling to provide coverage for other local offices. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop your career in healthcare administration while making a meaningful impact on patient care and the overall patient experience within a well-respected dermatology practice.
