The role of Front Desk Receptionist is a key position within the practice, crucial to maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of each office. This role requires a professional, bright, and enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for patients, guiding them through the check-in and check-out process, and managing administrative duties that impact patient experience. These responsibilities include greeting patients warmly, coordinating patient flow, assisting with payments, managing billing and insurance information, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records.
This position offers a pay range of $16 to $23 per hour, depending on years of experience — with the upper range reserved for candidates with multiple years of dermatology-related experience. The position requires availability to start as early as 7 am, underscoring the need for punctuality and reliability. Job Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- 1-3 years recent experience as a medical receptionist in a clinical or surgical setting preferred
- Previous experience in dermatology preferred
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA standards
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment
- Detail-oriented
- Working knowledge of multi-line phone system
- Able to operate standard office equipment such as computer, fax, copier, scanner
- Intermediate computer skills and experience in EMR utilization
- Fluent in English
- Ability to sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically
- Ability to travel to and provide coverage for other local offices as-needed
- Sitting, some standing, stooping and reaching
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard
- Correctable vision to 20/20 and hearing within a normal range for telephone contacts
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds
