Job Description

Calvary Chapel is a faith-based community organization dedicated to making disciples of Jesus Christ by connecting people to God, each other, and outreach opportunities within the community. The organization is deeply committed to fostering a welcoming and compassionate environment where individuals can grow spiritually and find meaningful relationships. Calvary Chapel's vision centers on reaching out to the community and positively impacting the world through service, worship, and fellowship. This holistic approach to ministry is designed to develop individuals not only in their personal faith but also in their ability to share that faith with others effectively.\n\nThe Front Desk Host (Receptionist) position is vital to the Engagement and Events department, where the individual will report to the Director of Hospitality. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt role requires approximately 20 hours per week, with the possibility of evening and weekend hours to support special events or address urgent needs. The role is essential to creating a welcoming first impression for all visitors and callers to Calvary Chapel. The Front Desk Host is the primary point of contact, responsible for greeting guests warmly, answering and directing phone calls, and providing accurate information about various church services, ministries, and community resources.\n\nThis role demands a person who is passionate about hospitality and engagement, someone who thrives on interpersonal interaction and making guests feel valued and connected. The ideal candidate will be spiritually mature, embodying qualities such as compassion, discernment, and leadership. They are expected to be committed to ongoing personal spiritual growth, including consistent worship and prayer life, personal study of God’s Word, and living in accordance with the church’s leadership covenant. The job is as much about who the individual is as what they do, emphasizing character and spiritual alignment with the values of Calvary Chapel.\n\nThe position involves multitasking, strong organizational skills, and the ability to serve guests with kindness and patience, especially those requiring special care. A calm and level-headed demeanor is crucial when handling pressing situations or difficult moments. Confidentiality and discretion are paramount, as the role will often handle sensitive information. Additionally, leadership qualities are essential since the Front Desk Host will oversee volunteers and help maintain a smooth operation at the front office.\n\nCalvary Chapel values a work culture that feels like family, encouraging all staff to attend meetings and events with a willing heart and commitment to service. Physical requirements include the ability to bend, sit or stand for long periods, and lift or move objects up to 35 pounds. The organization embraces equal employment opportunities and strives to support its staff in creating a welcoming atmosphere for all who interact with the church. Successful candidates will find themselves in a rewarding role that combines service, leadership, and spiritual growth in a close-knit community setting where their contributions directly impact the church's mission to change lives and the community for the better.
