Job Description
This job opportunity is with a resort, a type of hospitality establishment that offers various accommodations, amenities, and services to guests seeking leisure, relaxation, or event-hosting experiences. Resorts typically provide a comprehensive range of facilities such as lodging, dining, recreational activities, and sometimes spa and wellness centers, aiming to create an all-inclusive vacation experience for visitors. The resort places a high priority on guest satisfaction and strives to exceed expectations by providing helpful, friendly, and informative service throughout a guest's stay.
The role in question is that of a guest service assistant, whose primary purpose is to provide assistance to guests and serve as an essential information source during their stay. This position plays a pivotal role in enriching the guests' experience by offering personalized support, promoting the resort's facilities as well as local attractions, and ensuring that visitors have access to timely and accurate information about special events both within the resort and the surrounding area. This includes maintaining organized and well-stocked brochure racks that enable guests to independently explore available options.
In addition to being a knowledgeable resource for guests, the guest service assistant handles operational tasks such as answering all incoming calls to the guest service desk and assisting with a variety of guest services. These services range from making dining reservations and coordinating transportation options like car or limousine services, to arranging for special occasion items such as flowers, wine, or gift baskets. The role also involves helping guests with airline reservations, providing directions, addressing questions or concerns, and offering practical suggestions and solutions to enhance their stay.
Given the nature of the position, the assistant must incorporate safe work practices and demonstrate reliability by maintaining regular and punctual attendance. While the job demands a proactive approach to serving guests, it also expects adaptability with additional duties performed as required. This job is typically an entry-level position, demanding a high school diploma or GED with minimal related experience or training. The work environment is moderately noisy, reflecting a vibrant resort atmosphere, and physical tasks mainly involve sitting, talking, hearing, occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Key traits beneficial to succeeding in this position are strong communication skills, particularly the ability to read and speak English to engage effectively with English-speaking guests and co-workers. Proficiency with using the internet is also advantageous to handle information retrieval and guest inquiries efficiently. Overall, this role is vital in delivering excellent guest service and plays a critical part in the resort's mission to provide memorable and satisfying experiences to all visitors.
