We are currently seeking a Front Desk Associate to join our team, a vital role that serves as the first point of contact for our guests. This position requires a friendly and professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The successful candidate will play a critical role in facilitating smooth check-in and check-out processes, managing reservations, and handling payment transactions accurately. As a Front Desk Associate, you will be expected to greet guests warmly, assist with pre-registration and reservation blocking, and respond promptly and accurately to guest inquiries.

The role demands a complete working knowledge of the Front Office system, whether computerized or manual, including all daily transactions as well as occasional, less frequent procedures. Effective cash handling skills are mandatory, as you will be responsible for receiving payments via cash, checks, and credit cards, and ensuring accurate change is given. Additionally, the position requires understanding hotel rates, discounts, and cancellation and relocation procedures to guarantee guest satisfaction. The ability to handle same-day reservations quickly and correctly is essential, with an expectation to complete reservations in approximately two minutes.

Occasional lifting of items weighing 10 to 25 pounds is necessary, along with good visual and auditory abilities to maintain effective communication and performance.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in hotel front desk or customer service preferred
  • Ability to handle cash accurately
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work varied schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Capacity to stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally lift 10-25 pounds
  • Visual and auditory capability to engage with computer screens and guest interactions
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and provide excellent guest experiences

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a hotel front desk or customer service role preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn hotel software systems quickly
  • Ability to handle cash and transactions accurately
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate cordially with guests, promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel
  • Assist in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary
  • Promptly, accurately and efficiently know how and where to post all charges
  • Have complete working knowledge of Front Office computer or manual system, including all daily transactions and those which are not performed often
  • Accurately manage cash handling, including receiving cash, checks and credit card information from guests for payment of hotel charges and making change correctly
  • Review any reservations with special requests and work to block rooms accordingly
  • Have knowledge of hotel rates, discounts and how to handle each
  • Have working knowledge of reservations and procedures, including how to take same day reservations
  • Should be able to take reservations in approximately 2 minutes
  • Know and follow cancellation procedures and relocation procedures when necessary
