The Front Desk Agent role at JW Marriott San Francisco is a full-time, non-management position that serves as the initial point of contact for guests, ensuring a seamless and welcoming check-in and check-out experience. This position is critical in maintaining the high standards of hospitality that JW Marriott is known for. The Front Desk Agent is responsible for processing guest arrivals by confirming reservations, assigning rooms, issuing room keys, and activating them. Handling all forms of payment, including room charges, cash, checks, debit, or credit transactions, is an essential part of the role. The agent also manages the check-out process, which includes resolving any late or disputed charges.

In addition to transaction duties, the Front Desk Agent answers and records all guest inquiries, requests, and concerns via telephone or in person, coordinating with other departments such as Housekeeping to ensure timely room readiness. They communicate important hotel policies and parking procedures to guests and dispatch bell or valet staff as needed. The role also involves providing guests with accurate directions and information about local attractions and amenities to enhance their stay.

The Front Desk Agent runs daily operational reports such as arrivals, departures, and special requests to ensure accuracy and smooth daily function. They are responsible for completing cashier and closing reports in the hotel’s computer system, managing cash balances, and securely handling receipts according to company policies. This role demands adherence to safety and security protocols, professional appearance and conduct, and maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information. The ability to anticipate guest needs and deliver exceptional service while fostering positive working relationships with colleagues is key to success in this role.

Job Duties

  • Process all guest check-ins by confirming reservations, assigning rooms, and issuing and activating room keys
  • Process all payment types including room charges, cash, checks, debit, or credit
  • Handle all guest check-outs including resolving late and disputed charges
  • Answer, record, and process all guest calls, messages, requests, questions, or concerns
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping to track room readiness for check-in
  • Communicate parking procedures to guests and dispatch bell or valet staff as needed
  • Run daily reports on arrivals, departures, and special requests, check reports for accuracy
  • Complete designated cashier and closing reports in the computer system
  • Count bank at beginning and end of shift, balance and drop receipts according to accounting specifications
  • Follow company safety and security policies and procedures
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
  • Assist guests with disabilities
  • Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers
