Job Description

As a guest services agent (GSA), you become the face of our hotel, ensuring that guests feel valued and supported during their stay. This role is pivotal in managing front office operations including checking in and checking out guests efficiently while maintaining a courteous and helpful demeanor. The guest services agent functions not only as a front desk representative but also assumes responsibilities related to the hotel’s PBX system, concierge services, and guest relations. Flexibility is a key aspect of this role since working hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the hotel's diverse guest schedules.

The guest services agent is expected to be proficient with various computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management systems, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of guest services. Training is provided to equip the agent with the skills necessary to perform concierge duties such as making restaurant reservations, providing directions, and recommending local attractions. The agent ensures that guests’ reservation statuses are accurately determined, registration is completed correctly, and room assignments consider special guest requests. Safety and security protocols, including proper credit and cash handling procedures, are strictly adhered to, emphasizing the importance of operational integrity. Additionally, the role involves coordination with housekeeping and maintenance teams to keep room status reports updated and ensure seamless guest experiences.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, both written and oral, along with the emotional intelligence required to manage challenging situations calmly and positively. The guest services agent is sales-oriented, employing suggestive selling techniques to promote room bookings and hotel services. They engage effectively with guests to anticipate and fulfill their needs, promoting the hotel by demonstrating a high level of positive attitude and energy. The ability to multitask, stay composed under pressure, and uphold hotel standards such as uniform compliance is essential. Job Requirements

  • Background screening for previous criminal history
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Employment contingent upon 80 percent score on hotel reservation system test after training
  • Physically able to stand, sit, and walk for over 4 hours
  • Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds on occasion
  • Willingness to wear hotel uniform according to standards
  • Finger dexterity and visual acuity required

Job Qualifications

  • At least high school diploma or GED
  • Preferably 1 year experience in customer service or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations
  • Emotional intelligence to manage disruptive emotions
  • Knowledge of hotel front office, PBX, and concierge preferred
