Job Description
Project for Pride in Living (PPL) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to empowering low-income individuals and families to achieve self-reliance through a holistic approach encompassing housing, employment, and education services. Founded with a strong belief in the power of community and the untapped potential in every person, PPL aims to provide comprehensive support systems to help people not only survive tough circumstances but also thrive and grow independent lives. With decades of experience, PPL is recognized for its integrated service models that address the multifaceted needs of vulnerable populations, especially those experiencing housing insecurity. By offering a variety of supportive programs, PPL plays a pivotal role in strengthening community bonds and uplifting individuals to greater stability and success.
The role open at PPL is for a Front Desk Attendant at Downtown View, a supportive housing facility consisting of 47 units. This site specifically caters to young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 who have experienced homelessness and face significant barriers to maintaining stable housing. The Front Desk Attendant is a vital position that serves as the first line of contact for residents, guests, and service providers. This role requires someone who can balance a respectful and accessible demeanor while maintaining professional boundaries, ensuring safety and security for all community members and properties.
The position involves overseeing building security by monitoring entryways, cameras, and common areas, as well as conducting regular safety rounds throughout shifts. The Attendant responds to emergencies and crises with an emphasis on de-escalation and proper intervention protocols, including contacting relevant authorities when necessary. Additionally, this role supports the administrative functions related to resident move-ins and move-outs, such as key distribution and document processing. Working closely with property management and supportive service providers, the Front Desk Attendant contributes to an environment conducive to resident stability and growth.
This part-time, non-exempt position is scheduled for 24 hours per week during evening and overnight shifts on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 PM to 8 AM, with a competitive wage of $19 per hour. The role also occasionally requires physical activity including walking rounds and lifting up to 25 pounds. The position demands flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules and priorities. Through this role, PPL offers an opportunity to make an impactful difference in the lives of young adults overcoming significant adversity while being part of a dedicated team committed to social equity and empowerment.
Project for Pride in Living also prides itself on being an Equal Opportunity Employer, ensuring reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities and promoting an inclusive workplace environment. Joining PPL means becoming part of a mission-driven community that values respect, stability, and consistency as foundational principles to support youth and families in building better futures.
