Columbia Association (CA) is a prominent community-centered organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Columbia by providing diverse recreational, wellness, and cultural programs. As a nonprofit entity, CA emphasizes inclusivity and community engagement, aiming to foster a vibrant, dynamic atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. The CA operates multiple facilities including swimming centers, fitness clubs, and community centers that serve as hubs for health, fitness, and social interaction. Known for its commitment to diversity and equal opportunity employment, the Columbia Association strives to create an environment where all employees can thrive while contributing to the well-being of the community. CA offers a positive and fun work environment, emphasizing teamwork, professional development, and a welcoming atmosphere for staff and members.
The Front Desk Attendant role at the Swim Center is an integral position within the Columbia Association’s operations. This role is geared towards individuals with excellent interpersonal skills who enjoy engaging with people and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. As a Front Desk Attendant, the key responsibilities include greeting members, guests, and team members in a professional and courteous manner, checking in members and confirming membership validity, and providing top-notch customer service both in-person and over the phone. The position requires maintaining an organized and clean front desk and lobby area while managing multiple tasks independently and efficiently.
Additionally, Front Desk Attendants are tasked with managing incoming telephone calls, transferring calls appropriately, and taking messages, ensuring seamless communication within the community and staff. Evening and closing shift attendants have specific responsibilities, including availability requirements and facility cleaning duties at the end of their shifts. This role demands knowledge of club programs, activities, policies, and proficiency in operating a cash register and computer systems for point-of-sale transactions. The position also requires accurate data entry and the ability to follow directions from management both verbally and in writing.
This part-time opportunity offers a competitive pay rate of $18.55 per hour and includes a benefits package such as a complimentary Fit & Play membership, wellness benefits with perks, and some paid leave. The role demands physical stamina, including prolonged standing, bending, stooping, reaching, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds without assistance. Candidates must have a professional appearance, a pleasant attitude, and the ability to handle customer service duties calmly and efficiently under pressure. Availability to work weekends and holidays is mandatory, reflecting the organization’s commitment to providing consistent service to its community members.
Columbia Association is committed to inclusivity, equal employment opportunity, and welcomes applications from diverse and marginalized backgrounds. The organization’s mission includes engaging a diverse community and meeting evolving community needs, making it a supportive workplace for individuals seeking a meaningful and rewarding role that extends beyond routine customer service tasks. By joining CA’s Swim Center team as a Front Desk Attendant, employees become part of a community-focused organization dedicated to health, wellness, and service excellence.
